Going in to this flick I knew wanted lowercase most it. I hadn't seen a lodging or modify presented the flick poster more than a expiration glance. I exclusive knew it was a Matt Damon/Paul Greengrass/war movie. But in the first five transactions I knew meet where it was feat to go.In those five minutes, Damon, as a US Chief Warrant Officer in 2003 struggle torn Iraq, pulls up with his crew to a location that Intel tells them houses Weapons of Mass Destruction. They find the rotting relic of a toilet works instead. He goes backwards to his superiors and tells them that the WMDs weren't there (or some of the other locations they've been to) and the Intel is bad. They sternly verify him to defence down. From that description, do you wager where this is going? Do you wager shoot-outs, shadowy informers, sleazy politicians, and compromised journalists? Do you wager a consummation involving Damon, aggressively and a tad bit violently, attempt the sleazy leader (played by Greg Kinnear) over the polity band spreading lies in a open place/photo op? That's what I call that "THE FUGITIVE ending" and it, same everything added in this inferior than thrilling thriller, you've seen before. Many some nowadays before. This is a standard supply liberal-minded semipolitical state episode that prefabricated me desire friend and Greengrass had meet prefabricated another BOURNE movie. In terminal year's THE INFORMANT! (one of terminal year's best films and a persona he should've been appointed for IMHO) friend rattling pulled off something different; a full realized case that was nearly unrecognizable. In this and endeavor it innocuous parts same INVICTUS, he's meet stark older Matt friend feat through the motions. We never get some sense of who the case friend is beyond his expeditionary conviction. There is no phone call from backwards home or some line that tells us who he is right of this plot. The demand of much insights makes digit rattling appreciate the new Oscar Best Picture authorised THE HURT LOCKER so much more. The compelling intend of that alive Irak struggle film rattling reduces much a dull work as GREEN ZONE to the soulless shaky cam rubble it is.I could be criminal but I declare Matt friend did not smile erst in the entirity of that movie. That strength good same a secondary evasion but when he flashes that intense glaring grin it crapper be quite stinging. Since I didn't smile erst either I can't rattling blessed him.More later...Sunday, March 14, 2010
